Throughout the trip, we will have endless opportunities to savor one of the most famous gastronomies in Spain and the world! Welcome to northern Spain, land of legends, vineyards, waves and mountains.
The Basque Country, Euskadi, is a very special territory. Culturally, it maintains unique traditions, quite different to the rest of Spain; its language – euskera- which roots still remain unknown is one of the four official languages in the country. Some renown worldwide Himalayan climbers were born in this region, such as Edurne Pasabán, the first woman summiting the 14 eight thousanders. Also, from Basque Country comes surfer stars like Aritz Aramburu, the only Spaniard participating on the ASP World Championship. This reveals the passion and dedication among its citizens for the mountains and sea activities.
Along the history, La Rioja has been a region of borders, a crossroad, a battle field and therefore a gathering point for different cultures, civilizations and people. La Rioja, also known as the “7 valleys region”, it is geographically divided by seven rivers coming from the mountains down to the Ebro river.
The region presents two noticeable climates, Mediterranean at the north, the valley, and continental and more humid in the mountainous.
Ultimately, Navarra, “flat land surrounded by mountains”, has been one of the most powerful kingdoms throughout the Peninsula Iberica history. Despite its reduced size, its geography is diverse. The Pyrenees at the north provides a wide range of mountain with marvelous scenery excursions. Pamplona, its capital, worldwide famous thanks to the writer, Hemingway, who narrated the San Fermin festivity and its wild bull running.
